The dataset contains mineral deposits sized super large, large and medium for ten European countries : the Netherlands, the UK, Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Bulgaria, Italy, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Hungary. This dataset is based on contributions from national and regional Geological Survey Organisations collected between April and October 2024, as part of the EU-funded GSEU (Geological Service for Europe) project, aimed at delivering harmonized geoscientific data across Europe.

A layer represents aquifer media with direct of assignment of A index values for each aquifer delimitated.Higher values of “A” factor correspond to alluvial quaternary aquifers and Miocene sedimentary formations (sands and gravels). Smaller values represent areas with metamorphic and igneous rocks.

The aquifer media layer is created by direct assignment of aquifers to A index values from 1-10. The metamorphic and igneous rocks were given the lowest ‘A’-value of 3 and the karstified limestone is given the highest value of 10. The majority of the catchment can be grouped into bedded sedimentary rocks and given a value of 6.
