This dataset shows the location of offshore boreholes and samples. The purpose of this dataset is solely to get an overview and find out to get the actual data. The attributes “source” and “metadata_uri” tells the user who to contact to get more information. The attributes detailedDescription and geologyDescription occasionally contains links to more detailed information.

The borehole index contains basic borehole information (name, purpose, location, age, depth etc.), on a European level, for boreholes harvested from a number of national databases of mainly Geological Surveys. The data is harvested by BRGM as part of the EPOS project and the data is also available on the EGDI portal.

Offshore boreholes and samples from Denmark. These data come from the Jupiter database managed by the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland.

Approximately 970 offshore geological mapping and research sampling sites in Estonia are summarised by point data. Bottom samples are collected with Van Veen grab, Gemax corer, gravity corer or vibrocorer during seabed mapping since 1986. Information about the samples and boreholes is stored in the database of Geological Survey of Estonia.

The map compiles seabed samples since 1985 onwards. The data includes geographic data and metadata related to each sample, mainly based on the data produced by the Geological Survey of Finland
