INSPIRE View Service gives access to key information about drilling and objects registered in the descriptive database of geological objects classified according to the INSPIRE classification for borehole purpose.

This database contains key information on boreholes. The database is generated about twice a year as a layer in a GIS environment for use in the Borehole Surveys application. Individual points in the application represent boreholes and polygons indicate groups of related boreholes.

BSS is the French Boreholes database containing information from about 700 000 boreholes, accompanied by 2 000 000 pages of technical documentation. BSS contains raw information about geology and the technical details of the procedures used to drill the boreholes. This information is provided by operators under the terms of French law (Code Minier art. 131 à 136).
