Title:
IGME - National Inventory of Sludge Deposits 2002
Alternate Title:
Mining Ponds/Ponds Data
Presentation Form:
mapDigital
Abstract:
Database of sterile deposits from mining washers. It also contains alphanumeric information of the different registers, documentary information (photographs, sketches and situation maps). This information is of national scope and has been generated thanks to the agreement "Update of the National Inventory of Mining Sterile Bodies" signed by the IGME and the General Directorate of Mines (MINER) in 1999. Information contained in the "Inventory" has also been used. in the "National Inventory of Mine Waste Ponds and Mining Tailings" carried out by the IGME between 1983 and 1989. It is a georeferenced documentary database managed with SQL Server, available online at http://info.igme.es/balsas
purpose:
The objective of the database "Mining Rafts" is the collection, storage and dissemination of information related to rafts in the national territory based on their genetic and compositional characteristics based on the National Sludge Inventory 2002 (IGME). The reason for its creation was the knowledge of the environmental and safety situation in the surroundings of the mining areas.

Specific Usage:
To have up-to-date information regarding Mining Sterile Rafts, existing in the national territory, from the National Inventory of Rafts and Dumps made by the IGME between 1983 and 1989. Updating the information of the initially contemplated and inventing new ones. In addition to information related to the identification, geographic location, specific data of the structure and its physical and geological environment, characteristics and dimensions, qualitative evaluation of its geotechnical conditions and environmental impact, graphic information of the structures (schemas, sketches and Photographs).
With the data contained in the database it has been possible to analyze the specific problems regarding geotechnical evaluation (deposit stability) and environmental (affection to the hydraulic public domain, actual and potential contamination of surface waters and in some cases the underground), as well as the proposal of recommendations in taking measures aimed at minimizing / eliminating risks, both those related to the population and the environment.

statement:
The starting information comes from the "National Inventory of Mining Residue Bins and Dumps" carried out by the IGME between 1983 and 1989 and which collects information on 21,673 waste structures (rafts and tailings) from the 50 Spanish provinces. Of the most representative deposits (7,162, of which 574 correspond specifically to rafts of mining waste) a complete file was prepared with all the information of each structure. All the inventory was turned over to a Database created for this purpose in the COBOL-81 language and subsequently developed into a Relational Database System (ORACLE).
Between 1999 and 2002 the IGME carried out a review of this inventory reflected in the project "Update of the National Inventory of Mining Rafts and Sterile." The result was the obtaining of updated information from 988 structures compared to the 674 that contained the previous inventory and a database was created in ACCESS, with all the information collected in the field works and an application was also developed for the generation of the descriptive sheet of the structures based on the information contained in the database.
In 2010, this base was migrated to SQL Server 2008, from which the National Sludge Inventory Inventory application was made and in 2013 the WMS Service IGME - National Sludge Inventory 2002 was created.
