Title:
Thermal conductivity map of the upper geological layers in Slovenia 1: 100,000

Abstract:
The map shows thermal conductivities of rocks and soils in W / (mK), which are adopted based on average measured values for various rocks and soils that are attributed to the lithological units of the Basic geological map of Slovenia in scale of 1: 100,000.
purpose:
The purpose of the map is a spatial presentation of thermal conductivity values of rocks and soils in Slovenia. Thermal conductivity represents one of the key parameters for calculation of exploitation potential for shallow geothermal sources. In particular, the depth of geosondes is directly conditioned by the thermal conductivity of the rock or soil in which it is located.

statement:
Use:
+ Research and use of shallow geothermal energy for heating and cooling the facilities.
+ Preparation of professional bases for geothermal heat pump systems planning.
+ Spatial planning
+ Guidelines for the development of local energy concepts
- The measured thermal conductivity depends on several factors: the texture of the rock, whether the rock is layered or massive, whether it looks compact, or it is cracked and brittle. The composition of the rock is also important, as well as the saturation with water, if the rock is more cracked.
+ A comparison of the measured thermal conductivities on Slovenian samples with the values in the standards (SIA 38476, UNI 2012, VDI 2010: 4640 / Part 1, MIS 3005 and ASHRAE) shows, that the measured values do not deviate from those in the standards.
- Thermal conductivity values are estimated and given based on lithological characteristics that are representative up to a depth of 100 m, and in certain cases even less.
