Металогенетска карта Републике Српске 1:300 000 и пратећи Тумач урађени су у складу са Дугорочним програмом развоја основних геолошких истраживања Републике Српске од 2014.-2029. године. Металогенетска карта представља подлогу за оцјену рудне потенцијалности и перспективности одређене територије са циљем повећања степена економичности и ефективности извођења будућих геолошких истраживања металичних и неметаличних минералних сировина и чврстих фосилних горива Републике Српске.

Дугорочним програмом развоја основних геолошких истраживања Републике Српске предвиђена је израда Металогенетске карте 1:300 000. Металогенетска карта Републике Српске 1:300 000 представља графички израз везе између просторног положаја лежишта чврстих, течних и гасовитих минералних сировина различитих генетских типова, насталих у одређеним временским периодима у развоју терена Републике Српске и сусједних подручја, са претходно издвојеним геолошким формацијама (групама и асоцијацијама формацијама) односно структурно-тектонским склопом и геоисторијским развојем одређеног терена и одређеним рудоносним формацијама. Металогенетска карта Републике Српске 1:300 000 базира се на резултатима металогенетских односно минерагенетских анализа свих оних елемената геоисторијског развоја терена Републике Српске и сусједних подручја који су у генетској вези са процесом стварања, временом стварања и просторним размјештајем конкретних лежишта минералних сировина и/или група генетски сродних минералних сировина.
