GeoPLASMA-CE: Shallow geothermal energy in Central Europe
The GeoPLASMA-CE web application provides interactive thematic maps with a site query on the topic of “use of shallow geothermal energy.”
The extended link to the web portal offers several services for estimating resources and potential conflicts in six pilot areas in the Central European countries Germany, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Furthermore, this web portal provides useful information and guidelines on what a geothermal application could look like and how it can be managed efficiently and sustainably. It also aims to connect experts, researchers, authorities, and interested users who are interested in the use of shallow geothermal energy in their country and across borders.
The Project GeoPLASMA-CE supports the assessment and planning of shallow geothermal energy use by describing subsurface heat availability and temperature conditions. It enables the evaluation of geothermal potential for heating and cooling as a renewable and environmentally friendly energy source.
