Italian geologisen kartan mittakaavassa 1:500.000 tietokanta tehtiiin 90-luvulla digitoimalla rasterimuotoinen kartta. Kaikki tieto perustuu julkaistuun karttaan, esitysperusteena on litostratigrafia. Tietokanta koostuu kahdesta kerroksesta ja yhdestä kuvaustaulukosta.
