IGME-Mineral Resources Database (Metallogeny)
Presentation Form:

Presentation Form:

Abstract:
Bdmin (Metallogeny) contains information on mineral deposits and indications, both metallic and non-metallic. Until 2006, this information was stored in paper files or in old databases such as the metallogeny databases (Metagen I and Metagen II). It is national in scope. The information is structured in different sections: General Data, Geological Data, Metallogenic Data, Mining Data and Additional Data. The storage format is SQLServer. It is publicly accessible, except for some of the data contained in the database, such as the fields relating to mining data and additional data.
purpose:
The main objective of the creation project was the generation of a public service for the dissemination of mineral resources data via the Internet. This database integrates the pre-existing information generated by the IGME for the metalogenetic mapping of the country, as well as information from different metalogenetic projects and studies carried out, in addition to that which has been generated since its implementation, so that it is constantly being updated.

Specific Usage:
The data are publicly available for on-line consultation, which previously had to be done in person and by photocopying the original paper files. In addition, the updated data contained in the database are used for the development of projects related to the subject, such as the PROMINE project (2009-2013): "Nano-particle products from new mineral resources in Europe", "Cartografía de Recursos Minerales de Andalucía" (2011) and "Análisis de la intersección suelo- agua subterránea. Improving the protection of groundwater resources. (Another use of this database is the creation of knowledge infrastructure and scientific-technical advice to society on mineral resources.

Supplemental Information:
This database has been generated from the internal IGME project "BDMIN: mineral resources database (2006-2009)". Through the application https://info.igme.es/BDmin/ it is possible to make queries based on location criteria, as well as to build complex searches based on conditions on the properties of the data. In addition, the points contained in this database can be viewed and consulted from any GIS tool through the corresponding WMS service (http://mapas.igme.es/gis/services/BasesDatos/IGME_BDMIN_Indicios/MapServer/WmsServer) or from the IGME's geoscientific information navigator (http://info.igme.es/visor/).
The scale 1:50,000 is for mainland Spain and Mallorca, and 1:25,000 for the rest of the territories.

statement:
The IGME's database of mineral resource indications (BDMIN) contains the corresponding data for approximately 10,000 mineralisations and mines in the national territory. The main administrative background is the constitution of the database itself and the agreements and projects for the recognition of indications that have given rise to its content. Other previous or ongoing projects, such as the Promine project, have had among their objectives the delivery of databases of this nature, for their integration with other similar databases in Europe. The project for the design and constitution of the database of traces and mineralisations in Spain is a fundamental tool for the integration of metalogenetic knowledge with other types of data, whether in exploration projects or metalogenetic and mining potential analysis of the territory, or in very different fields such as those of an environmental nature, or the environmental impact of mining. It also gathers global information on the territory that can be widely consulted externally by users with different profiles. The data contained have been obtained in recent years through various regional metalogenetic study projects carried out as IGME's own projects or under agreements with autonomous communities, and there is currently a specific project for this purpose: "Recognition of mining evidence for integration into the IGME metalogenetic database (BDMIN)".
