Abstract:
The PCI-PMI Transparency Platform provides access to date information on the geographic location and project information from Projects of Common Interest (PCI) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PMI) included in the Union list of PCIs and PMIs, adopted by the European Commission under the TEN-E Regulation. The platform presents the location and infrastructure components of projects covering electricity, offshore grids, cross-border CO₂ networks, smart electricity grids and smart gas grids, hydrogen, electrolysers and Art. 24 (gas derogation).
purpose:
The dataset and Transparency Platform were established to fulfil the European Commission's transparency and information obligations under the TEN-E Regulation and to provide stakeholders and the general public with accessible information on projects included in the Union list of PCIs and PMIs. The geographical representation supports understanding of the location and development of strategic cross-border energy infrastructure contributing to EU energy security, market integration and climate and energy objectives.

Title:
COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 1089/2010 of 23 November 2010 implementing Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards interoperability of spatial data sets and services
explanation:
See referenced specification
statement:
The dataset originates from projects submitted by project promoters in response to calls for applications for inclusion in the Union list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PMI), in accordance with the TEN-E Regulation.
Submitted proposals are screened for eligibility and assessed against the applicable criteria and infrastructure priorities. The projects are subsequently assessed and ranked by the relevant TEN-E Regional Groups. Following completion of the selection process, the European Commission adopts the Union list of PCIs and PMIs.
The projects included in the adopted Union list (along with the completed PCIs and PMIs from previous lists), containing projects information and description, implementation information and geographical information are processed and made available through the PCI-PMI Transparency Platform, where the selected projects and their infrastructure components are represented spatially.
The underlying energy network information used for spatial context is based on the S&P Global PLATTS Geospatial Database.
The infrastructure types shown in the PCI-PMI Transparency platform include all the detailed infrastructure items that are part of Projects of Common Interest and Projects of Mutual Interest, in line with the general infrastructure categories as defined by TEN-E Regulation Annex II but not limited to them.
The geographical representation is provided for transparency and information purposes and does not prejudge or necessarily coincide with the final route of a project.
