La base de données a été créée par combinaision, généralisation et vectorisation des cartes du bedrock et des sédiments quaternaires à 1:200 000 et à 1:50 000. Les zones de la carte correspondent à l'age, la génèse et aux unités lithologiques des sédiments et des roches sous la couche de sol. De plus la carte correspond à la carte des sédimants quaternaires incluant de petites zones avec affleurements de bedrock.
