Explanations to the Geological Map of Poland, scale 1:200,000 (second edition)

The Explanations to the Geological Map of Poland 1:200,000 (MGP200k) are an integral part of each map sheet. This documentation is common to both maps: A and B. It presents the specific geological structure of the area covered by the sheet in its key sections: Geomorphology, Stratigraphy, Quaternary Basement, Tectonics and/or Glaciotectonics, and Paleogeography. The text is enriched with tables, figures, and photographs. The Explanations are provided as PDF files.

Data Quality

The MGP200k sheet is developed based on the compilation and analysis of boreholes for the given area, bedrock geological sketches from the Detailed Geological Map of Poland (SMGP) sheets at a scale of 1:50,000, taking into account current research results and studies for the region, as well as available 3D models of the subsurface geological structure
