ThermoGIS World Aquifer: Global geothermal resource assessment for direct heat utilization in deep aquifers

This dataset provides a global assessment of geothermal energy resources in deep aquifers (to 3 km depth) for direct heat utilization, including greenhouse heating, spatial heating, and cooling. It includes modeled subsurface temperatures, aquifer thickness, and technical potential maps, based on a volumetric heat-in-place method. It was orginally created for the International Energy Agency (IEA), Technology Roadmap: Geothermal Heat and
Power, Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development, Tech. Rep.,
(OECD)/EIA, France, 2011 and further extended during the IMAGE project, funded by the
European Community's Seventh Framework Programme under grant
agreement no. 608553 (Project IMAGE).
