The Samba database among other things contains information about deep wells in the Danish sector, acquired according to the Danish Act on the Use of the Subsoil. That is: exploration, appraisal, delimitation and production wells related to oil/gas. Also wells with other purposes such as: geothermal energy, gas storage, salt production and scientific research. The data sets contains technical, administrative and geological information about the well and about the geophysical measurements undertaken in the well (well logs and reports). Data are submitted by the company to whom the permission has been granted. The database is updated on an ongoing basis.

- Data from all released exploration and appraisal wells can be downloaded for free using the new GEUS Data portal.
The Samba database was established in 1988 as cooperation between the DGU (now GEUS) and the Danish Energy Agency. The oldest well in the database was drilled in 1936. Today the database contains approx. 2000 wells and 1400 seismic surveys. In 2014 the GEUS web shop Frisbee was introduced, providing easy access to, and download of, the data from all released appraisal and exploration wells in Denmark. Data can be purchased by credit card or invoice. The final well report and the deviation data can be downloaded free of charge. In 2016 the 3D seismic data became available in Frisbee, and the acquisition report is available for download free of charge.
