Data Quality

The temperature at 100 m was calculated based on Fourier's law of conduction, using the thermal conductivity of the bedrock geology and the heat flow distribution (Downing & Gray 1986; Lee et al. 1987; Rollin 1995; Barker et al. 2000). The calculated geothermal gradient (average of 26 °C/km) was added to the estimate of the mean annual air temperature, determined from long-term meteorological data, to generate the estimate of temperature at 100 m depth.
